The McHenry County Division of Transportation (MCDOT) recently began work on the County’s 2040 Long-Range Transportation Plan.

The Plan will provide a blueprint for all future transportation decisions, including future infrastructure projects, prioritizing what and when projects are built, maintaining the existing transportation system, and expanding the options that residents have to get to their destinations.

As part of this effort, a project website has been developed to obtain input from residents, employees, and other stakeholders. The website includes a collaborative map where users can identify specific transportation issues in the County, a link to upload photos of McHenry County’s transportation system, and a blog that will focus on transportation related issues in the County and will feature a number of guest authors. A new transportation option will be available beginning February 13, 2010 that will provide trips between the incorporated areas of the Cities of Crystal Lake, McHenry & Woodstock and to and from Valley Hi Nursing Home & the Fox Lake Metra Station. Seniors older than 65 years and people with disabilities are also eligible for trips originating or ending anywhere in McHenry Township or in Dorr Township outside of Bull Valley.
