Lunch Date

Last Wednesday of each month, 1-3pm

Lunch Date is one of SOAR’s most popular activities, offering participants a wonderful opportunity to gather with friends in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Each month, a different local restaurant is chosen, giving everyone the chance to enjoy a variety of cuisines and venues.

SOAR Explorer Adventures

Various dates and times

A lively, curious group of people who regularly meet to participate in a wide variety of offsite activities, with 1-2 taking place each month.  The activities can take place on various days of the week and at different times of day. In the first few months of SOAR Explorers’ existence the group attended a concert at the Woodstock Opera House, a play at the Raue Theatre, went to the 4th Friday at the Starline Factory, ridden horses in Lake Geneva, and searched for eagles at the McHenry Dam. There are more ideas than time to do them!

Those who want to participate in a certain event are asked to pre-register, and pre-pay if payment is required. Participants sign up for each adventure separately, as many or as few as they like.

Social Hour

3rd Thursday of each month, 5-7pm

Social Hour was created for people to enjoy a “night on the town” together. Participants try new and established sites in Woodstock and neighboring towns throughout McHenry County.

Supper Club

1st Thursday of each month, 5-7pm

The popularity of Lunch Date led to the creation of a similar activity to do in the evening. Supper Club was created to offer another opportunity for people to meet up at different restaurants in Woodstock and neighboring towns.

Each month a different restaurant is selected with the“new” and group favorite places being popular choices.

The group stays in town during the winter months when it stays dark later and the weather is unpredictable.
